He was born on Nov. 16, 1930, in Cripple Creek, Colorado, to William (Scotty) Simpson Sim and Hazel Dolores (King) Sim. They moved to California and then to Ouray, Colorado, where he went to high school and then joined the U.S. Navy for a short period of time being honorably discharged.

Sim married the love of his life Addie (Israel) on August 20, 1950. They lived in Ouray for a while and then moved to Ridgway, Colorado.

Sim worked in the mines and for the Colorado Department of Transportation until his retirement. Sim joined the Ouray County Sheriff Posse in the late 60s and became captain in 1974. He was a lifetime member of the Ouray Elk’s Lodge #492. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Master Mason.

Sim loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and teaching his daughters how to do both. He loved his dogs. He was an avid reader and enjoyed football (go Broncos). He loved working with his hands, making many things and just putzing around in his garage.

At his request, cremation has taken place and the family is planning to have a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to go to the Humane Society of Moab Valley, 956 Sand Flats Rd., Moab, Utah, 84532.
